About Eriolarynx australis (Griseb.) J.M.H.Shaw
Eriolarynx australis, commonly known as mini angel's trumpet or blue angel's trumpet, is a flowering plant species belonging to the genus Eriolarynx. It is native to Bolivia and northwest Argentina. In horticultural literature, it is still widely referenced under its former scientific name, the synonym Iochroma australe. This species has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. It grows as a compact shrub, reaching a height and spread of up to 2.5 m (8.2 ft). It has downy leaves and produces pale violet-blue, pendent, trumpet-shaped flowers during the summer. It is only hardy in mild regions; in other climates, it must be grown under glass. It requires a sheltered position in full sun. The Latin specific epithet australis translates to "southern". Several cultivars exist, all originally described under the synonym Iochroma australe: Eriolarynx australis 'Andean Snow', Eriolarynx australis 'Bill Evans', and Eriolarynx australis 'Sunrise'.
