About Eriogonum trichopes Torr.
Eriogonum trichopes Torr. is an annual herb that varies widely in height. It can grow as a spindly plant reaching just 10 centimeters, or as a sprawling, brambly plant up to 1.5 meters tall. Its leaves grow in a basal patch on the ground; each leaf is rounded with ruffled margins, and covered in either woolly or stiff hairs. The erect inflorescence is bare, sometimes hairy, and bears many slender branches that produce flowers year-round. Clusters of flowers hang from short, thready stalks. Each tiny flower is either glandular or hairy. When new, the flowers are bright yellow, and they darken to a reddish color as they age.
