About Eriogonum rixfordii S.Stokes

Eriogonum rixfordii S.Stokes is an annual herb that reaches up to 40 centimeters in height. It has a distinctive pagoda-like growth form: it grows from a narrow cluster of stems that spreads outward into a wider inflorescence, which is a multi-layered arrangement of slender branches. Tiny bell-shaped clusters of very small white to reddish flowers grow along these branches. A major threat to the survival of this uniquely shaped plant is collection by hobbyists who pick specimens to take home.
