About Eriogonum kennedyi Porter ex S.Watson
Eriogonum kennedyi Porter ex S.Watson is a perennial herb that grows as a small, cushiony mat. This mat is covered in oval leaves, each reaching up to around one centimeter long. The greenish leaves are covered in woolly fibers that range in color from brown to pink or white. Its inflorescence grows on an upright scape, or stem, which holds a head of small flowers. The flowers are white to pink and have a darker midrib. This species is endemic to California. It can be found in the Transverse Ranges and the Sierra Nevada foothills; one variety of the species also grows in the high Sierra Nevada and the far western Great Basin. It grows in dry habitats, in substrates of sand or gravel.
