About Eriogonum incanum Torr. & A.Gray
Eriogonum incanum Torr. & A.Gray is a dioecious perennial herb that forms low mats. These mats reach up to 20 centimeters tall and 30 centimeters wide, and sometimes grow quite a bit smaller. Its woolly, petioled leaves are 1 to 2 centimeters long, arranged in clusters that form a gray-green or yellowish layer over sandy soil or between rocks. The plant produces dense, rounded clusters of flowers that may grow on erect stalks, and flower colors range from yellow to red, with some plants bearing both colors. Male individuals produce staminate flowers 2 to 3 millimeters wide, while female individuals produce slightly larger pistillate flowers.
