About Eriogonum hoffmannii S.Stokes
This species of buckwheat, Eriogonum hoffmannii, is an annual herb that reaches up to one meter in height, with a slender flowering stem. Its round, woolly leaves grow around the base of the stem. The inflorescence is made up of a series of branches lined with smaller branches, which hold many small clusters of tiny flowers that can be white, pink, or reddish. There are two recognized varieties of this species. The more common variety, var. robustius, grows in an erect form that can reach up to one meter tall. The other variety, var. hoffmannii, is a shorter, spreading plant.
