About Eriogonum gracillimum S.Watson

Eriogonum gracillimum is a species of wild buckwheat, commonly called rose and white buckwheat. It is endemic to the state of California, where it is common and widespread across many areas. This species is a spindly annual herb, growing between 5 and 50 centimeters tall. Most of its leaves grow from the base of the plant, with only a few scattered leaves along the thin, branched stem. Leaves are generally 1 to 4 centimeters long, have a somewhat woolly texture, and have rolled under edges. Small clusters of flowers grow along the thread-thin stem branches. These flowers hang from short stalks, held within bell-shaped involucres. Individual flowers are 2 millimeters wide, and have a bright rose and white coloration.
