Eriogonum alatum Torr., commonly known as winged buckwheat and winged eriogonum, is a species of buckwheat. This plant is native to the western Great Plains, the Southwestern United States, and Chihuahua state in Mexico. Among the Zuni people, the root of Eriogonum alatum Torr. is eaten as an emetic to treat stomachaches. An infusion made from the powdered root is taken after a fall and to relieve general discomfort (referred to as general misery in the original source).
