About Erigeron pinnatisectus (A.Gray) A.Nelson

Erigeron pinnatisectus is a species of flowering plant in the Asteraceae family, commonly called feather-leaf fleabane. This species is native to the Rocky Mountains of Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico. It is a small perennial herb that rarely grows more than 11 centimeters (4.4 inches) tall, and produces a woody taproot. Its leaves are covered in woolly hairs. The plant typically produces only one flower head per stem. Each flower head holds 40 to 70 purple or pale blue ray florets, which surround numerous yellow disc florets. It grows on bluffs, ledges, and steep slopes at high altitudes, often growing above the tree line.
