Erigeron modestus A.Gray is a North American flowering plant species in the Asteraceae family, commonly known as plains fleabane. It is native to northern Mexico, specifically the states of Coahuila, Chihuahua, and Nuevo León, as well as the southwestern and south-central United States, including Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. This species is a branching perennial herb that grows up to 40 centimeters (16 inches) tall, and develops a woody taproot. Its leaves are spatula-shaped and reach up to 10 cm (4 inches) long near the base of the plant, while leaves higher up on the stem are narrower and shorter. Flower heads of this plant can hold up to 170 white ray florets, which surround numerous yellow disc florets.
