About Erigeron leiomerus A.Gray

Erigeron leiomerus A.Gray is a rare species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae, commonly known as rockslide yellow fleabane or rockslide fleabane. It is native to the western United States, found primarily in the Rocky Mountains and the Great Basin. This species has been recorded in Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico. Erigeron leiomerus is a branching perennial herb that grows up to 15 centimeters (6 inches) tall, and forms a woody taproot. Both its leaves and stem are covered in hairs. Plants typically produce only one flower head per stem; each head holds up to 60 purple, blue, or white ray florets surrounding numerous yellow disc florets. This species grows on rockslides in alpine tundra and coniferous forests at high elevations.
