About Erigeron humilis Graham

Erigeron humilis, commonly called Arctic alpine fleabane or low fleabane, is a species of flowering plant in the Asteraceae family that grows in arctic and alpine habitats. It is widely distributed across colder regions of the Northern Hemisphere. In North America, it occurs in Alaska, most of Canada, Greenland, and the Rocky Mountains of the United States, extending as far south as Colorado. In Eurasia, it has been recorded in Scandinavia (including Iceland) and the Chukotka region of the Russian Far East. This species is a perennial herb that grows up to 25 centimeters (10 inches) tall and spreads via underground rhizomes. Each plant typically produces only one flower head, which can contain up to 150 blue or purple ray florets surrounding numerous yellow disc florets.
