About Erigeron compactus S.F.Blake
Erigeron compactus S.F.Blake is a small perennial herb that rarely reaches a maximum height of 10 centimeters (4 inches). It grows in fuzzy patches and clumps of fleshy leaves, each leaf is no more than 2.5 centimeters (1 inch) long and somewhat rounded in cross-section. It produces short, hairy stems, each of which bears a single flower head about 1 centimeter (0.4 inches) wide. The flower head has a yellow center made up of disc florets, surrounded by white, pink, or bicolored ray florets that are white with a lilac stripe. This species is native to woodlands and slopes in the western United States. It has been recorded growing in Nevada, western Utah, and eastern California, specifically in El Dorado, Mono, Inyo, San Bernardino Counties, and the extreme eastern part of Fresno County.
