About Erigeron chrysopsidis A.Gray

Erigeron chrysopsidis, commonly called dwarf yellow fleabane, is a North American flowering plant species in the Asteraceae family. It grows in the western United States, specifically in southeastern Washington, Oregon, extreme northern California, northern Nevada, and Idaho. This is a very small perennial herb that grows up to 15 cm (8 inches) tall and forms a taproot. Most of its leaves grow low down, close to the ground. Each stem produces just one flower head, which contains 20 to 60 yellow ray florets plus numerous yellow disc florets. Three varieties of this species are recognized: Erigeron chrysopsidis var. austiniae (Greene) G.L.Nesom, found in California, Idaho, Nevada, and Oregon; Erigeron chrysopsidis var. brevifolius Piper, found in Oregon; and Erigeron chrysopsidis var. chrysopsidis, found in Oregon and Washington.
