About Erigeron caespitosus Nutt.

Erigeron caespitosus Nutt., commonly called tufted fleabane, is a North American flowering plant species belonging to the Asteraceae family. It is native to western Canada, including Yukon, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, as well as Alaska and the mountainous regions of the western United States—primarily the Rocky Mountains, stretching as far south as Arizona and New Mexico. This species is a perennial herb that grows up to 30 cm (12 inches) tall. It forms clumps over a taproot, and its tissues are usually covered in stiff hairs. A single plant produces numerous flower heads, borne in groups of 1 to 4 at the tips of its upper branches. Each flower head holds up to 100 white or blue ray florets, which surround many small yellow disc florets.
