About Erigeron bloomeri A.Gray
Erigeron bloomeri A.Gray is a short, small perennial herb that rarely grows taller than 20 cm (8 inches). It forms clumps over a taproot. Most of its leaves are basal, several centimeters long, and can range from densely hairy to nearly hairless. Short erect stems hold inflorescences made up of single flower heads. Each flower head is 1 to 2 centimeters (0.4 to 0.8 inches) wide, packed with many small golden yellow disc florets, and has no ray florets. This species is native to slopes, meadows, and hillsides in the western United States, specifically found in California, Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, northwestern Utah, and central Washington. Two varieties are recognized: Erigeron bloomeri var. bloomeri, found in California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington; and Erigeron bloomeri var. nudatus (A.Gray) Cronquist, found in Del Norte and Siskiyou Counties in extreme northern California.
