About Erigeron acris L.
Erigeron acris L. is a widespread herbaceous flowering plant in the Asteraceae family. Its common names are bitter fleabane and blue fleabane. This species is native to Canada, colder regions of the United States, northern, central, and southeastern Asia, and most of Europe. It is a biennial or perennial herb that grows up to 100 cm (40 inches) tall, and develops a taproot along with a woody rhizome. A single individual can produce many small flower heads; each head holds pink, lilac, or occasionally white ray florets, and yellow disc florets. The currently recognized subspecies and varieties of Erigeron acris are: Erigeron acris subsp. acris, Erigeron acris subsp. angulosus (Gaudin) Vacc., Erigeron acris subsp. arctophilus (Rech.f.) Rech.f., Erigeron acris subsp. asadbarensis (Vierh.) Rech.f., Erigeron acris subsp. botschantzevii, Erigeron acris subsp. brachycephalus (H.Lindb.), Erigeron acris subsp. droebachensis (O.F.Müll.)
