About Ericameria suffruticosa (Nutt.) G.L.Nesom
Ericameria suffruticosa is a plant that grows as a subshrub or shrub, reaching a height of 6 to 16 inches, or 15 to 41 centimeters. It bears small, sticky gray-green leaves with wavy edges; these leaves become strongly aromatic when crushed. A single individual can produce multiple yellow flower heads that have an irregular structure. The few disk flowers in each head point in many different directions, while 1 to 6 ray flowers are positioned haphazardly around the disk. This species grows at elevations between 8,000 and 12,000 feet, which equals 2,400 to 3,700 meters. It can be found on rocky flats, ledges, and exposed ridges within mountain and alpine plant communities.
