About Eresia nauplius (Linnaeus, 1758)

Eresia nauplius, commonly known as the Peruvian crescent or the Nauplius crescent, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Nymphalidae. This species was originally described under the name assigned by Linnaeus in 1758, and later treated by William Chapman Hewitson in 1852. It can be found across most of the Amazon region. Its typical habitat includes forest edges with low vegetation, covering locations such as river banks, forest clearings, glades, and roadsides. The wingspan of this butterfly measures approximately 45 mm.
