About Eresia clio (Linnaeus, 1758)
Eresia clio, commonly known as the common crescent or Clio crescent, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Nymphalidae. It was first formally described by Carl Linnaeus in 1758. This species ranges from southern Mexico south to Peru, Bolivia, the Guyanas, and Brazil, where it occurs between Amazonas and Mato Grosso. Its natural habitat is made up of forest edges that have low-growing vegetation. The wingspan of adult Eresia clio is approximately 36 millimeters. Adult butterflies of this species feed on flower nectar, and males have been observed collecting moisture from damp locations.
