About Eremogone congesta (Nutt. ex Torr. & A.Gray) Ikonn.
Eremogone congesta (Nutt. ex Torr. & A.Gray) Ikonn. is a perennial herb that grows in a tuft of slender, upright stems reaching up to approximately 40 centimeters (16 inches) tall. Its leaves range from needle-like to thready in shape, growing up to 8 centimeters (3.1 inches) long and only a few millimeters wide. Leaves can be fleshy or flat, and they often end in a very sharp tip. Most leaves grow in a cluster at the base of the plant, with just a few scattered along the otherwise mostly bare stem. The inflorescence is an open or rounded cyme made up of five-petaled white flowers. The fruit is a toothed capsule that holds several reddish seeds. Native American groups, including the Shoshone, used this plant for a variety of medicinal purposes.
