About Erebia vidleri Elwes, 1898
Erebia vidleri Elwes, 1898 has a wingspan of 35–45 mm. Its dorsal wings are brownish black, with a jagged orange band on both wings. This orange band surrounds three black eyespots on the forewings, and two or three black eyespots on the hindwings. The ventral side of the forewing is similar in appearance to the dorsal side of the forewing. The ventral side of the hindwing is grey, and its eyespots are either vague or entirely absent. This species is distributed across the mountainous regions of Washington state and British Columbia, reaching as far north as Mt. Hoadley. It inhabits moist, flowery alpine and subalpine meadows and slopes. The larval food plants of Erebia vidleri are various species in the grass family Poaceae.
