About Erebia pawloskii Ménétriés, 1859

Erebia pawloskii Ménétriés, 1859, commonly known as the yellow-dotted alpine, belongs to the subfamily Satyrinae of the butterfly family Nymphalidae. This species occurs in North America across northern British Columbia, Yukon, and Alaska. It is also distributed in the Sayan Mountains, and across the range extending from northern Mongolia through Yakutia to Kamchatka. Its habitat includes grassy areas within and above wet tundra, as well as bogs. The wingspan of adult individuals ranges from 29 to 38 mm. Adults are active on the wing from July to mid-August. The larvae of Erebia pawloskii feed on species of the genus Carex. Currently, Erebia pawloskii is recognized as the accepted scientific spelling for the yellow-dotted alpine, not Erebia pawlowskii.
