About Erebia epipsodea Butler, 1868
Erebia epipsodea, commonly known as the common alpine, is a butterfly species that belongs to the subfamily Satyrinae, within the family Nymphalidae. This species is distributed across North America: its range extends from Alaska southward through the Rocky Mountains to northern New Mexico, and eastward across the Canadian prairie provinces to southwest Manitoba. The wingspan of adult common alpine butterflies measures between 34 and 45 mm. Adults are active in flight from mid-June to early August. The larval stage of this species feeds on a wide variety of grass species.
