About Epithemis mariae (Laidlaw, 1915)

Epithemis mariae is a small dragonfly species. It has a black prothorax and black thorax, with a broad greenish-yellow humeral stripe on each side. Segments 1 through 3 of its abdomen are brick-red, and all remaining abdominal segments are black. Segments 4 to 7 each have a basal yellow ring. Females of the species are golden yellow with black markings. This species forms small colonies in bogs located at the foot of hills, where it also breeds.
