About Epinotia ramella (Linnaeus, 1758)

Epinotia ramella (Linnaeus, 1758) is a moth species belonging to the family Tortricidae. Its distribution includes Europe, multiple regions of China (Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Sichuan, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia), Japan, Russia, and Kazakhstan. The wingspan of this moth measures 13โ€“16 millimetres (0.51โ€“0.63 in). Its forewings are ochreous-white, with scattered black scales near the base. The costa of the forewing has a greyish tinge and is marked with fine black streaks. A triangular black spot mixed with grey appears on the dorsum before the middle of the forewing, and a second, less defined spot of the same type is located on the tornus. The central fascia of the forewing is an ill-marked pale ochreous grey. The apex of the forewing is suffused with dark grey, and the ocellus is edged with leaden metallic scales. In some individuals, the dorsal three-fifths of the forewing is entirely suffused with blackish-grey. The hindwings are plain grey. In Europe, Epinotia ramella inhabits well-wooded areas that support its larval food plants.
