About Epinotia immundana (Fischer von Röslerstamm, 1839)

Epinotia immundana (Fischer von Röslerstamm, 1839) is a species of moth in the family Tortricidae. Its known distribution includes China’s Qinghai region, Russia, and Europe. This moth has a wingspan ranging from 12 to 14 mm. Like many other species in the genus Epinotia, Epinotia immundana shows considerable variation in colouration. On the forewings, individuals often have a large triangular white spot along the dorsal edge, and a smaller pale stain at the tornus. The hindwings are a light grey-brown colour. In the British Isles and adjacent areas of continental Europe, adult moths fly from April to June; in southern parts of this range, a second flight period occurs in August and September. The larvae of Epinotia immundana feed primarily on Alnus glutinosa (common alder), birch, and rose.
