About Epilobium siskiyouense (Munz) Hoch & P.H.Raven
Epilobium siskiyouense is a small, clumping subshrub that grows from a woody caudex. Its stems are scaly, often densely hairy and glandular, and reach a maximum height of around 25 centimeters. Its leaves are lance-shaped to oval, and measure less than 3 centimeters long. Its glandular inflorescence produces bright to deep pink flowers with petals 1 to 2 centimeters long. Its fruit is a hairy capsule that can grow up to 4.5 centimeters in length. This plant is endemic to the Klamath Mountains of far northern California and southern Oregon. It grows in mountain habitats including alpine talus and subalpine coniferous forest, and is often found on serpentine soils.
