About Epilobium rigidum Hausskn.

Epilobium rigidum Hausskn. is an uncommon species of flowering plant in the evening primrose family. It has two common names: stiff willowherb and Siskiyou Mountains willowherb. This plant is endemic to the Klamath Mountains of far northern California and southern Oregon. It grows in dry, open areas within lower elevation coniferous forest habitat, and is often found on serpentine soils. It is a perennial herb that forms upright clumps or mats of tough, peeling stems growing from a woody caudex. It produces bright pink flowers with heart-shaped petals that can reach up to 2 centimeters long. Each flower is flanked by pointed reddish sepals. Its fruit is a hairy capsule that grows up to 3.5 centimeters long.
