About Epilobium coloratum Biehler
Epilobium coloratum Biehler is a perennial herbaceous plant that can grow up to 1.2 meters, or 4 feet, tall. It produces small white or light pink flowers, each with four notched petals. Individual flowers sit at the end of a single short stalk, and blooming generally occurs from August to October. Its leaves are simple, arranged oppositely along the stem, with two leaves growing from each stem node. This species is native to the Midwest and Eastern United States, where it is found everywhere except Mississippi and Florida. It is also native to the Canadian provinces of Ontario, Québec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland, as well as to the Dominican Republic and Haiti. It grows in several habitat types: poorly-drained prairies, moist wooded areas, bogs, marshes, and the edges of rivers and ponds. It can tolerate occasional flooding.
