About Epilobium alsinifolium Vill.

Epilobium alsinifolium Vill. is a species of willowherb that is commonly known as chickweed willowherb. This small perennial flowering plant grows in low clumps that reach roughly 10 to 25 centimeters, or 4 to 10 inches, in height. It produces wide, rounded leaves at its base, with narrower leaves growing higher up the stem. The plant bears purple or pinkish, trumpet-shaped flowers that measure 7 to 12 millimeters across. Its fruit is a capsule that is two or three centimeters long. This species occurs in arctic regions of Europe, mountainous regions with an Arctic climate further south in Europe, and also in Greenland.
