About Epidendrum excisum Lindl.
This orchid species has flattened stems that reach up to 0.9 meters in height. The stems are covered by the basal sheaths of its broad, oblong, leathery leaves. A paniculate inflorescence with a long base emerges from two short, broad spathes located at the apex of the stem. Its flowers are yellow, with petals ranging from thread-like (filiform) to linear in shape, and obovate sepals; the lateral sepals are scoop-shaped. The lip of the flower is trilobate, with lateral lobes that have margins ranging from crenulate to erose. The base of the lip, where it splits away from the flower's column, forms a heart-shape. The central lobe of the lip is split into three short rounded lobes at its tip: the middle lobe is narrow and bent downward, while the two lateral lobes are slightly longer, point outward, and bend upward.
