About Epiblema otiosana (Clemens, 1860)

Epiblema otiosana, commonly known as the bidens borer moth, gets its common name from the plant genus Bidens, which includes the larval food plants of this species. The wingspan of adult bidens borer moths ranges from 12 to 20 millimetres, or 0.47 to 0.79 inches. In North America, this species is distributed from Maine and Ontario in the north, south to Florida, and west to Kansas and Texas. Its caterpillars feed on Bidens frondosa, also called common beggar-ticks, which is a member of the aster family Asteraceae.
