About Epeus flavobilineatus (Doleschall, 1859)

Males of Epeus flavobilineatus are distinctively colored mostly translucent green, and have a prominent crest of long setae at the back of the eye region. Females are harder to identify; reliable identification requires examination of the epigyne, because they can look very similar to other Epeus species like E. albus. In the original 1859 description by Doleschall, this species is described as slender, with a pale green abdomen that has two thin longitudinal lemon-yellow stripes that merge at both ends. Its legs are slightly longer than its body, and are pale yellowish in color. Epeus flavobilineatus has been recorded in China, Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. It seems to be widespread across the Sunda Shelf region, ranging from the Malay Peninsula to Java and Sulawesi.
