About Ennomos quercinaria (Hufnagel, 1767)

Ennomos quercinaria (Hufnagel, 1767) has a wingspan of 42–50 mm, with a forewing length of 18–22 mm. Its base body color is orange yellow. The forewings have light to heavy speckling and a dark marginal edge. Both the forewings and hindwings have scalloped edges, and each bears two cross lines. The discal spot is not always visible. This species is similar to Ennomos alniaria, but can be distinguished by the postmedian (outer) line curving inwards toward the costa. Its distribution covers parts of western Europe, including Belgium, the Netherlands, and the Iberian Peninsula. It ranges east to Greece, Hungary, Romania, European Turkey, and Ukraine, and south to the Iberian Peninsula, Italy, and Sicily.
