It is primarily distributed across southern Europe. There are two unconfirmed records of the species from Britain: one from the 19th century, and another from south-east England in 1992. This moth has a wingspan ranging from 28 to 35 millimeters. Adult moths are active and in flight between June and September. The larvae of Ennomos quercaria feed on a variety of oak species.
