Enneapogon desvauxii P.Beauv. produces erect stems that grow 10 to 40 centimeters tall. The plant has a small number of hairy, thread-like leaves and fluffy gray inflorescences. Each spike measures 3 to 6 centimeters long, and holds fertile florets that develop into grain fruit. Each of these grain fruits has nine spreading awns covered in white hairs.
