About Eneoptera surinamensis (De Geer, 1773)
Eneoptera surinamensis is a cricket species that inhabits open areas within tropical rainforests. Like other members of the subfamily Eneopterinae, E. surinamensis feeds on the leaves, flowers, and fruits of living plants. Females of this species deposit their eggs in the pith, bark, or soft wood of plant stems. Because this species feeds on living plant material that is valuable to humans, it occasionally causes damage to these plants.
