About Endiandra globosa Maiden & Betche

Endiandra globosa Maiden & Betche has an unbuttressed trunk covered in whitish, grey, or brown bark. A mature tree reaches approximately 25 meters in height. Its leaves are broad-elliptic to elliptic or ovate, veined, and typically measure 7–15 cm long and 3–6 cm wide; the leaf veins are often yellowish. This species is considered a particularly beautiful tree for its horizontally growing branches and attractive dark foliage. Creamy white flowers develop between October and January. The fruit, which matures in autumn, is often around the size of a tennis ball. It is a black, fleshy drupe that holds a large woody seed marked with attractive veiny patterns. Germination of the seeds is fairly slow but reliable, with roots and shoots typically emerging around November.
