About Enargia paleacea (Esper, 1788)

Enargia paleacea (Esper, 1788) has a wingspan of 40–60 mm. Its forewings are pale yellowish ochreous, dusted with a reddish-brown color; females are a deeper yellow than males. The inner and outer lines on the forewings are fine and reddish brown. The median shade is reddish-brown, more diffuse, and angled, while the subterminal line is barely visible. The orbicular and reniform stigmata are outlined in reddish brown, with the lower lobe of the reniform stigma filled with grey. A row of dark terminal spots runs along the edge of the forewing, and the hindwing is whitish yellow. Two aberrations have been recorded: ab. angulago Haw. is deep orange instead of pale yellow, and teichi Krul., which occurs in Germany and Western Russia, has the area between the inner and outer lines, or between the median and submarginal lines, suffused with reddish grey or brown.
