This species has the scientific name Elophila turbata Butler, 1881. Adult Elophila turbata have been recorded flying from May to October in Japan. The larvae of this species feed on four aquatic plant species: common duckweed (Spirodela polyrhiza), floating fern (Salvinia natans), Trapa japonica, and Lemna perpusilla. Elophila turbata is distributed across the Democratic Republic of the Congo, India, Taiwan, China, Korea, Japan (including Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Yakushima, Amami islands, and the Ryukyus), and the Russian Far East (including Amur and Ussuri).
