Nomenclature and Taxonomy

Eleutherodactylus inoptatus, commonly called the Diquini robber frog, is a species of frog in the family Eleutherodactylidae.

Distribution

It is endemic to Hispaniola, where it occurs in both Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Female Size

Females reach approximately 88 mm (3.5 in) in snout–vent length, making this the largest species of eleutherodactylid frog.

Primary Habitat

This species is common, and inhabits mesic hardwood forests.

Modified Habitat Tolerance

It can also survive in coffee and banana plantations, provided trees and shade are present.

Threats

It is currently threatened by habitat loss.
