About Elephantopus scaber L.

Elephantopus scaber L. is a tropical flowering plant species in the daisy family Asteraceae. It is native to tropical Africa, Eastern Asia, the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and northern Australia, and has additionally become naturalized across tropical Africa and Latin America. It naturally grows in subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. This plant is used as a traditional medicinal plant. In traditional Indian medicine, different parts of the plant are used as an astringent, cardiac tonic, and diuretic, and it is also applied to treat eczema, rheumatism, fever, and bladder stones. Research shows that E. scaber modulates inflammatory responses through inhibiting the production of the molecules TNFα and IL-1β.
