About Eleocharis tuberculosa (Michx.) Roem. & Schult.
Eleocharis tuberculosa, commonly known as cone-cup spikerush or large-tubercled spikerush, is a plant species native to the United States and Canada. It has been recorded in every Gulf and Atlantic coastal state from Maine to Texas, as well as in Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, and the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. This species grows in wet soil in habitats including meadows, woodlands, lake shores, and river banks. Eleocharis tuberculosa is a perennial herb that grows in dense clumps. Its culms are elliptical in cross-section and reach up to 70 cm in height. The styles of its pistillate flowers have a swollen base called a tubercule, which is white to pale orange-brown, often marked with red spots, and can grow up to 2.5 mm across.
