About Eleocharis rostellata (Torr.) Torr.

Eleocharis rostellata is a rhizomatous perennial herb that reaches up to 1.2 meters in height. It has spongy, compressible stems that bend and droop. If the tip of a stem touches moist soil, it may root there and produce additional stems. This plant reproduces via seed, and also reproduces vegetatively by sprouting from fragments of its rhizomes. Its inflorescence is a single spikelet, up to 2 centimeters long, that holds many tiny flowers. The flowers are covered by light brown bracts, which sometimes have purple spots.
