About Eleocharis flavescens (Poir.) Urb.
Eleocharis flavescens (Poir.) Urb. is a perennial flowering plant in the sedge family, Cyperaceae. It is commonly known by three common names: bright green spikerush, pale spike-rush, and wrinkle-sheathed spike-rush. This species grows in clumps and also spreads to form large colonies. Individual plants are small in size and closely resemble other species of spikerush. Eleocharis flavescens is native to temperate North America, the West Indies, and South America. It is an obligate wetland species, meaning it only grows in wetland habitats. These habitats include bogs, brackish or salt marshes and flats, floodplains, freshwater marshes, and the shores of rivers or lakes.
