Larger trees have a flanged or buttressed trunk. The bark is relatively smooth, paper-thin, and grey, and the trunks of certain broader trees feature vertical lines and stripes. Small branches are thick, greyish brown, and covered in rusty hairs towards their tips. Shoots bear dense woolly hairs.
