About Elaphria venustula (Hübner, 1790)
This species, formally referred to as Elaphria venustula (Hübner, 1790), is also known by synonymy as P. venustula Hbn. (= hybnerana F.). Its forewing is primarily white, with the basal half tinged with dull pink. The inner and outer lines are double, grey, and waved. The inner arms of the inner line and outer arms of the outer line are respectively thicker and duller; the lines enclosing the median area are darker and thinner below the middle. Each line is preceded by an irregular brownish shade. A broad oblique white streak extends from the apex, interrupting a brown praesubmarginal shade, which is interrupted again above the inner margin. The submarginal line is undefined except at the middle, where it is preceded by a brown shade that contains 2 or 3 black marks. The terminal area beyond the submarginal line and the fringe are uniformly brown. The claviform stigma is grey with a white edge. The orbicular stigma is absent; its position is occupied by a black semicircular blotch on the median vein, from which black scales run down through the brown shade. The reniform stigma is obscurely marked, pale grey on its inner side, with some black scales on the outer side that touch the outer line. The hindwing is whitish, tinged with brownish grey towards the termen, and has a grey cellspot and an outer line. The larva is purplish brown, with an indistinctly paler dorsal line, a pale spot on the sides of the 4th segment, and a brown head. The wingspan of adults ranges from 18–22 mm.
