About Elaphria alapallida Pogue & Sullivan, 2003

The pale-winged midget, scientifically named Elaphria alapallida, is a species of moth belonging to the family Noctuidae. This species was first split from Elaphria festivoides by Pogue and Sullivan in 2003. It can be found across southern Canada and the northern United States. The wingspan of Elaphria alapallida ranges from 24 to 28 mm. Adult moths are active on wing from May to July, and the species produces one generation per year. Larvae of the closely related Elaphria festivoides have been successfully reared on Acer negundo, so the host plant preferences of Elaphria alapallida may be similar to those of E. festivoides.
