About Elaeodendron melanocarpum F.Muell.
Elaeodendron melanocarpum F.Muell. can grow as a small tree reaching up to 15 metres in height, but its more common growth form is a straggly shrub found growing in rocky locations. Its glossy green leaves are arranged oppositely, and are oval or elliptical in shape. The flowers are small and white, with male and female flowers developing on separate plants. The fruits are black, fleshy, and up to 2 centimetres long, with a stony endocarp. The fruit's overall appearance resembles an olive or a small plum, which is the origin of the species' common names: olive plum, false olive, and black olive.
